Domestica, Ichi Bike Shop + Subsect Skateshop are giving away two tickets to the SOLD OUT Des Moines Social Club's "Food For Thought" BBQ this Thursday night, April 4th.  

Open to all Des Moines-area residents. Must be able to pick up the tickets at Domestica (321 E. Walnut St) on Thursday before 5PM. If you do not, there are no prize substitutes. Prize has no cash value. Contest ends Wednesday, April 3rd at 1PM. Enter before then.

The Des Moines Social Club’s new home at the downtown firehouse (900 Mulberry) will serve as a space that utilizes the arts as a catalyst to create unprecedented community engagement. The firehouse will be historically preserved with renovations to convert the space to a creative environment for all of Des Moines to enjoy. The firehouse will feature thought-provoking theater, creative classes for all ages, collaborative workspace for non-profits, forward-thinking restaurants and bars, premier art galleries, and much more. After five years of searching for a permanent home, the perfect space has been found at one of the most unique buildings in the city.

More Party Facts
- Proceeds are donated to support the firehouse construction efforts and Social Club programming.
- Make a pledge and be rewarded with a slide down the fire pole; paint a collaborative mural; and start the construction by knocking down a wall.
- There's a formal dinner that coincides with the BBQ - both kick off at 5PM + converge together for a DJ 810 dance party at 7:45 pm.
- An elevated stage will connect both parties with live music + a showcase of Social Club programming.
- Special news about the firehouse will be released at the event.
- Free food and drink!

"As we set out to create the eighteenth COLORS limited edition, we dug into Aaron (Draplin)’s collection of vintage memo books for inspiration, and set out to pay tribute to the cross-country-road-trip spirit of America, via the vibrant full-color aesthetic of the beautifully-roughhewn memo books and road maps of the 1960s.

"In today’s world of computerized precision, it was challenging to find anything but the brightest-white paper, and our printer takes great pride in perfection. Printing oversaturated photos on yellowed paper, with a purposefully out-of-register 100-line screen, was nearly outside the capabilities of modern machinery and left pressmen scratching their heads. But we made it happen! The dust has settled, and we present our beefiest FIELD NOTES ever. Colorful stock photography of “Spacious Skies,” “Amber Waves,” and “Mountains Majesty” are reproduced in full-color on heavyweight, off-white, Tango-coated one-side covers, and stuffed with 48 pages of burly Finch “Soft White” paper ruled with “Looseleaf Blue” ink. They’re bound together with shiny copper staples, and as always."

Des Moines Skyline Necklaces Are Here!

We love Maple + Mauve's modern cement + painted bamboo studs - feel so lucky to have them - so imagine how happy I was when Sera Young (M+M's fab designer) asked if we'd like some Des Moines skyline necklaces.  Again, so lucky.  

The 2 5/8" x 3/8" pendant features the Iowa State Capital, Center Street footbridge, and Iowa's tallest building, 801 Grand. It's delicately etched into 3-ply amber bamboo that's been stained and varnished with teak oil to protect it from the elements. Strung through a gunmetal plated brass chain, this little etched bamboo makes a wonderful gift for you or someone you love in Iowa.

They're cool as can be, understated + modern.  You really need to see them in person - I know you'll really love them, too!
