Your Ideal Bookshelf

We're just tickled to death to have Jane Mount's Ideal Bookshelf prints at Domestica.  I've been a huge fan for awhile, so it's a big deal.*

Jane's got her hand in so many cool projects, but she's best known for her paintings of people's favorite books - a project she started about 4 years ago.  Friends commissioned paintings based on paintings she was doing for other friends and the idea grew and grew.  Prints available now sometimes only carry the initials of the person who inspired them, but somehow serve as mini portraiture - you bond with them through in their Ideal Bookshelf book choices - choices you might also choose.

Jane's been interviewed in The New Yorker and for Canada's National Post and both short interviews lend a little more insight into how Jane got started, her process, and why a picture of our favorite books says so much about who we are.
